Black Ice Leads to MVC

On Wednesday January 7, 2015 at 13:41 hours, BLS 3428, Engine 3302 and Rescue 3221 were dispatched to Parvins Mill Road for a motor vehicle crash. Dispatch advised responding units that it was reported to be 1 vehicle into the woods, with the patient unable to exit the vehicle, and the injuries unknown. BLS 3428 arrived first due and reported negative entrapment. Engine 3302 arrived and established Command. Due to the negative entrapment Command recalled R3221. The patient was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. All units were clear of the scene at 14:25 hours.

   


 

E3202 Responds to Brush Call

On Tuesday January 6, 2015 at 16:00 hours, Engine 3202 responded to the area of 31 Big Oak Road for a reported brush fire. Dispatch stated the 911 caller noticed something burning along the edge of the woods. Engine 3202 arrived, established Command and found an extinguished pile of leaves. Engine 3202 cleared the scene at 16:13 hours.

   


 

NJSP Involved MVC

 On Friday January 2, 2015 at 21:15 hours, Engine 3202, Rescue 3221 and Squad 34 were dispatched to Highway 77, in the area of Big Oak Road for a motor vehicle crash. County Dispatch advised that it was for a three vehicle collision, reported with entrapment, and a medical helicopter dispatched for one of the patients.

BLS 3427 arrived on location and found a three vehicle collision involving two New Jersey State Police cruisers. BLS 3427 advised that one Trooper was trapped in his vehicle due to heavy driver side damage. Rescue 3221 arrived shortly after, confirmed the report and established Command. Rescue 3221's crew went to work with the Hurst Spreaders. Command diverted Engine 3202 to the Seabrook School parking lot to set up the LZ (Landing Zone) for SouthStar Medical Helicopter. Command requested Engine 3302 be dispatched to assist at the accident scene.

The third vehicle, a Toyota 4 Runner, continued approximately 1/4 mile south on Highway 77 before becoming disabled at the intersection of Big Oak Road. Approximately 4 occupants fled the scene on foot. Command requested Engine 3302 to stage at Big Oak Road, where Engine 3302's crew assisted the New Jersey State Police with searching for the occupants. Using the Thermal Imaging Camera, Engine 3302's crew was able to locate the driver of the SUV in a nearby field. The driver refused medical attention and was transported from the scene by the New Jersey State Police.

Rescue 3221's crew extricated the Trooper with a quick door pop. The Trooper was then assessed by BLS and Life Support 7. BLS 3427 then transported the Trooper to the LZ where he was then transported to Cooper Trauma Center via SouthStar. The Trooper's injuries were reported to be non life threatening. The second Trooper car sustained minor damage to the driver side rear quarter panel, and that Trooper refused medical attention.

Crews from Rescue 3221 and Engine 3302 remained on scene for several hours assisting the State Police with their investigation and searching for the other occupants. K-9 units as well as helicopters with infrared cameras searched the surrounding area throughout the early morning hours. It was reported that one other occupant was located.

It was reported that three Trooper cars were enroute to a call when the SUV crossed the center line. The SUV missed the first cruiser, clipped the second and slammed into the third, before attempting to flee the scene.

Command released Engine 3302 at 01:54 hours. Rescue 3221 remained on scene until the vehicles were removed by the tow company and was clear at 02:58 hours.

Units on scene were Engine 3202, Engine 3302, Rescue 3221, Brush 3306, 32 Fire Police, BLS 3427, BLS 3428, Life Support 7, SouthStar Medical Helicopter and the New Jersey State Police.

First Call of 2015

On January 1, 2015 at 14:50 hours, BLS 3427, Engine 3302 and Rescue 3221 were dispatched to the intersection of South Woodruff Road and Rosenhayn Avenue for a motor vehicle crash. County Dispatch advised responding units that the New Jersey State Police were on scene and requesting EMS. BLS 3427 arrived on location and found two SUVs in a T-Bone style impact, with all occupants out of the vehicle. Engine 3302 arrived and established Command. Rescue 3221 arrived shortly after and stabilized the vehicles. R3221's crew disabled the batteries and cleaned up debris and fluids in the roadway. Patients from both vehicles refused medical attention and BLS 3427 went available. Fire crews remained on scene until the tow company removed the vehicles. All units were clear of the scene at 15:20 hours.


Units on scene were Engine 3302, Rescue 3221, 32 Fire Police, BLS 3427 and the New Jersey State Police.


   


 

Serious Accident Sends One to Local Hospital

 On Wednesday August 13, 2014, at 21:37 hours, Engine 3104, Rescue 3221, and Squad 34 were dispatched to Highway 77 near Tice's Lane for a motor vehicle crash. BLS 3427 arrived and found one vehicle in a corn field and damage to a utility pole. Engine 3104 arrived and established Command as BLS assessed the patients. As crews approached the front of the vehicle they found heavy front end damage and the engine missing. Rescue 3221 arrived, stabilized the vehicle, and provided lighting while crews worked. The female passenger suffered trauma to her legs and was transported to a local hospital for her injuries. The male driver refused medical attention. A second vehicle ran over debris causing her oil pan to rupture and oil to spill along the highway. Crews worked for some time clearing debris and fluids from the roadway. Atlantic City Electric was notified as well to assess the cracked utility pole. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police. All units were clear of the scene at 22:49 hours.

     



 

Units Handle MVC

 On Monday August 11, 2014, at 05:53 hours, Engine 3301, Rescue 3221, and Squad 34 were dispatched to Button Mill Road near Cornwell Drive for a motor vehicle crash. Engine 3301 arrived first due and found 1 vehicle that had went through the guardrail and into a tree. BLS 3427 arrived and began to assess the patient. Rescue 3221 arrived and staged on scene due to the patient being out of the vehicle. The patient only received minor injuries and refused transport to the hospital. All units were clear of the scene at 06:41 hours.

   


 

Units Investigate Alarm

 On Saturday August 9, 2014, at 09:53 hours, Engine 3202 and Engine 3301 were dispatched to Deerfield Drive in the Country Side Village for a Commercial Alarm activation. Engine 3301 arrived first due, found nothing showing, and established Command. Engine 3202 arrived shortly after. Crews investigated the building and found nothing evident. A representative on location reset the alarm and Command placed the situation under control. All units were clear at 10:16 hours. 

   


 

Commercial Vehicle Fire Handled

 On Friday August 8, 2014, at 14:36 hours, Tender 3111, Engine 3104, Tender 3211, and BLS 3427 were dispatched to Highway 77 at Big Al's Automotive for a commercial vehicle fire. BLS 3427 arrived first due and found a box truck fully involved spreading to a nearby dump truck. Tender 3111 arrived shortly after, established Command, and stretched a line to extinguish the fire. Engine 3104 arrived and assisted Tender 3111's crew. Tender 3211 staged on scene. The fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes and Tender 3211 was released by Command. 31's crew remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes extinguishing hot spots. All units were clear of the scene at 15:30 hours. 

   


 

Commercial Alarm System Investigated

 On Wednesday August 6, 2014, at 09:18 hours, Engine 3104 and Engine 3202 were dispatched to Polk Lane at the Seabrook House for an alarm system. Engine 3202 arrived first due, found nothing showing and established Command. Crews found that a representative from the alarm company was on scene testing the alarm system. Command placed the situation under control and units were clear at 09:34 hours. 

   


 

Accidental Alarm Gets Response

 On Tuesday August 5, 2014, at 20:44 hours, Engine 3202 and Engine 3104 were dispatched to Parsonage Road at Clement Papas for a Commercial Alarm activation. Engine 3202 arrived, found nothing showing, and established Command. A representative on scene stated that the alarm was set off accidentally and the syste, had been reset. Command placed the situation under control and Engine 3104 was recalled. Engine 3202 cleared at 20:55 hours.
