Gas Odor Investigated

 On Friday January 23, 2015 at 00:11 hours, Engine 3202 and Engine 3104 were dispatched to Second Avenue for an Interior Gas Leak. Dispatch advised the resident was smelling gas for an hour and a half and was refusing to evacuate the residence.

Engine 3202 arrived first due and established Command. E3202's crew investigated the interior of the residence and found no odor of gas. The crew checked the residence with a gas meter and all readings were negative. 

Command recalled Engine 3104 who were enroute to the scene. Command placed the situation under control at 00:23 hours and units went available.

Units on scene were Engine 3202 and 32 Fire Police.

   


 

Quick Knock Saves Barn

 On Thursday January 22, 2015 at 17:25 hours, Tender 3111, Engine 3202, Engine 3301 and Squad 34 were dispatched to Brock Farms on Polk Lane for a Commercial Structure. Dispatch advised responding units that a tractor was on fire inside the barn.

BLS 3429 arrived first due and found a light smoke condition with an active fire inside the barn. Tender 3111 arrived on scene, established Command and crews stretched a hand line. Engine 3202 arrived right behind T3111 and the crew helped stretch the line. T3111's crew made a quick knock on the fire and prevented any extension to the barn.

Command placed the fire under control at 17:34 hours. Engine 3301 and Tender 3211 arrived just after and crews staged on the roadway. Command requested the Fire Marshal to the scene for the investigation. All units with the exception of Station 31 units were clear at 17:57 hours. T3111 and FM-2 cleared the scene at 18:41 hours.

Units on scene were Tender 3111, Engine 3104, Engine 3202, Tender 3211, Engine 3301, BLS 3429, 32 Fire Police, FM-2, BLS 3429, BLS 3427 and the New Jersey State Police.

   


 

Pole Split in MVC

 On Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 12:26 hours, Engine 3104, Rescue 3221 and Squad 34 were dispatched to Highway 77 IAO Polk Lane for a motor vehicle crash. Dispatch advised it was reported to be one vehicle versus a utility pole with unknown injuries.

Engine 3104 arrived first due, confirmed the report, and established Command. BLS 3428 and Rescue 3221 arrived moments later. BLS assessed the patient while R3221's crew stabilized the vehicle with cribbing and disconnected the battery. 

One patient was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. All units were clear of the scene at 13:05 hours. The New Jersey State Police were on scene and investigating into the cause.

Units on scene were Engine 3104, Utility 3151, Rescue 3221, BLS 3428 and the New Jersey State Police.

   


 

Units Handle MVC

On Monday January 19, 2015 at 14:26 hours Engine 3302, Rescue 3221 and Squad 34 were dispatched to Highway 77 in the area of Walmart for a motor vehicle crash. Dispatch advised that it was reported to be two vehicles with unknown injuries. BLS 3428 arrived on scene and confirmed two vehicles involved and began assessing the patients. Engine 3302 arrived and established Command. Rescue 3221 arrived shortly after and assisted with stabilizing the vehicles and cleaning up debris. One patient was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and a few others refused medical attention. All units were clear at 15:04 hours. Units on scene were Engine 3302, Rescue 3221, BLS 3428, BLS 3426 and the New Jersey State Police.

   


 

Minor MVC Gets Response

 On Friday January 16, 2015 at 21:06 hours, Engine 3104, Rescue 3221 and Squad 34 were dispatched to Highway 77 IAO Route 540 for a motor vehicle crash. Dispatch advised that it was reported to be 2 vehicles with unknown injuries. 

BLS 3426 arrived on location to find a two vehicle accident with minor damage and two patients requesting transport. BLS 3427 made the response for the second patient.

Engine 3104 and Rescue 3221 arrived shortly after. Engine 3104 established command and Rescue 3221 stabilized the vehicles with cribbing. Crews assisted with debris clean up and traffic control while BLS assessed the patients.

Two patients were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The New Jersey State Police were on scene and investigating into the cause.

Command placed the situation under control at  21:45 hours and units began to clear the scene.

Units on scene were Engine 3104, Utility 3151, Rescue 3221, Rescue 3222, 32 Fire Police, BLS 3426, BLS 3427, BLS 3428 and the New Jersey State Police.

   


 

Engine 3202 Takes Recall

On Thursday January 15, 2015 at 15:13 hours, Engine 3302 and Engine 3104 were dispatched to Parvins Mill Road for an alarm system. Engine 3302 arrived on location to find nothing showing and established Command. Due to Engine 3104 not making the response, Engine 3202 was dispatched. Shortly after responding, Command placed the situation under control and Engine 3202 was recalled. All units were off radio at 15:43 hours.

   


 

R3221 Dispatched to Salem County

 On Monday January 12, 2015 at 07:42 hours, Rescue 3221 and BLS 3426 were dispatched to the Pole Tavern Circle in Upper Pittsgrove Township for motor vehicle crash with possible entrapment. Dispatched advised that it was reported to be 1 vehicle overturned with entrapment.

Rescue 21-9 (Elmer Ambulance Corp.) arrived and found 1 vehicle with negative entrapment and 1 patient requesting an evaluation. Rescue 3221 and BLS 3426 were recalled while enroute due to services not needed.

Units were off radio at station at 07:55 hours. 

   


 

Units Respond to WaWa

On Sunday January 11, 2015 at 02:29 hours, Engine 3302, Engine 3202, Tender 3111, Tender 2911 and Squad 34 were dispatched to WaWa Food Market on Highway 77 for a Commercial Structure. Dispatch advised responding units that the caller stated they smelled something burning inside the store and were advised to evacuate.

Engine 3302 arrived with nothing showing and established Command. Engine 3202 arrived shortly after and was ordered by Command to send the crew in with a TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera). Crews from E3302 and E3202 checked the store thoroughly with the TIC and the gas meter and nothing evident was found.

A crew from T2911 laddered the roof and checked the A/C units to make sure that was not the cause. After clearing the roof, Command placed the situation under control and units started to clear.

A representative from WaWa stated that she smelled something burning and even noticed a haze near the Deli area but stated it was not a burnt food smell. All units were clear of the scene at 03:22 hours.

Units on scene were Engine 3302, Engine 3202, Tender 3111, Tender 2911, Brush 3306, 32 Fire Police and BLS 3429.

     



 

Alarm System Investigated

On Thursday January 8, 2015 at 17:46 hours Engine 3202 and Engine 3302 were dispatched to Second Avenue for a residential alarm activation. Engine 3202 arrived and established Command. E32's crew investigated and found the activation was the result of the resident lighting her gas fireplace. Command recalled Engine 3302 shortly after they arrived on scene. For safety measures E32's crew checked the residence for any CO levels, and all was clear. Engine 3202 was clear at 18:02 hours.

   


 

LZ Handled by E3202

On Wednesday January 7, 2015 at 16:31 hours, Engine 3202 was dispatched to Cumberland Regional High School to set up an LZ (Landing Zone) per BLS 3428. Engine 3202 arrived and established the LZ in the front parking lot. BLS 3428 and Life Support 7 were on scene with a medical call and requested for a helicopter to fly. Medevac5 came in and transported the patient to Christiana. All units were clear at 17:12 hours.
