Units Respond to WaWa

On Sunday January 11, 2015 at 02:29 hours, Engine 3302, Engine 3202, Tender 3111, Tender 2911 and Squad 34 were dispatched to WaWa Food Market on Highway 77 for a Commercial Structure. Dispatch advised responding units that the caller stated they smelled something burning inside the store and were advised to evacuate.

Engine 3302 arrived with nothing showing and established Command. Engine 3202 arrived shortly after and was ordered by Command to send the crew in with a TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera). Crews from E3302 and E3202 checked the store thoroughly with the TIC and the gas meter and nothing evident was found.

A crew from T2911 laddered the roof and checked the A/C units to make sure that was not the cause. After clearing the roof, Command placed the situation under control and units started to clear.

A representative from WaWa stated that she smelled something burning and even noticed a haze near the Deli area but stated it was not a burnt food smell. All units were clear of the scene at 03:22 hours.

Units on scene were Engine 3302, Engine 3202, Tender 3111, Tender 2911, Brush 3306, 32 Fire Police and BLS 3429.
